How we modernised our e-shop with rail systems for curtains

LEMIR Design is a family-owned company with 18 years of tradition, specialising in aluminium rail systems for curtains and curtain rods made to measure. Their e-shop LEMIR Shop offers a wide range of products including rail systems, electric rails, pelmets and home accessories. When upgrading this shop, we were faced with the challenge of not only updating the technical background to the latest version of PrestaShop, but also speeding up the website and implementing a configurator for the rail systems.

Why was the modernisation necessary?

The original LEMIR Shop e-shop was running on an outdated version of PrestaShop, which no longer provided optimal performance and security. The design did not reflect the professionalism of a company with 18 years of experience in rail systems and home accessories. The main shortcoming was the lack of the ability to configure the rail systems – customers could not easily set the length of the rail and automatically add the necessary components such as end caps, runners, brackets and hooks.

How did we solve it?

We approached the modernization of the e-shop with an emphasis on preserving all existing data and SEO value. We updated the core system to the latest version of PrestaShop, implemented responsive design and significantly optimized page load speed.

A key enhancement was the creation of an intuitive configurator that allows customers to easily set the desired rail length and automatically add all necessary components, including end caps, brackets, runners and hooks.

Technological update

We’ve completely updated the PrestaShop platform to the latest version, providing better security, higher performance and access to modern extensions. With the update, the e-shop now supports the latest payment gateways and shipping services, while providing the foundation for future enhancements and innovations in the sale of rail systems and home accessories.

Speed optimisation

We have implemented techniques to significantly speed up the site. We optimized product images without losing quality, streamlined loading of CSS and JavaScript files, implemented caching and reduced the number of HTTP requests. These modifications have led to a significant speed-up in page loading, which improves user experience and positively impacts Google search rankings.

Modern design

We have created a new look of the e-shop, which is fully responsive and adapted to different devices. The design now better presents specific products such as GIADA aluminium rails, DUETTE and other rail systems. We have improved product categorization and clarity of navigation between the sections Rail Systems, Electric Rails, Garnishes, Home Accessories and Smart Home.

Rail systems configurator

We have implemented a configurator that allows customers to set the exact rail length, automatically add all necessary components, instantly see the total configuration price, easily add the complete assembly to the cart. This configurator greatly simplifies the purchasing process for customers and eliminates the need for additional consultation.

Modernisation results

The upgraded LEMIR Shop has brought significant improvements in key areas. Page load speeds have increased significantly, reducing the rate of immediate customer churn. The implementation of a rail systems configurator has significantly eased the purchasing process and increased the conversion rate. Customers can now easily configure products with precise length settings and automatically add the necessary components. The responsive design makes shopping convenient on all devices, which is reflected in increased time spent on site and an increase in average order value.
